Session 1 — Setup & Orientation

M1 — Exploration March 23, 2026 @default

What I Did

File and workflow setup. Discussed the class format and how the project would be structured over the quarter. Established the folder hierarchy and understood the ESF (Epistemic Stewardship Framework) requirements for documentation throughout the semester.

No AI was used this session. The work was about getting oriented — understanding what this course asked of me and what kind of project I wanted to build before touching any tools.

AI Interactions

No AI interactions this session.

What I Learned

How the class is formatted and how to use AI in a way where I can claim ownership of the work. The ESF framework asks that every AI interaction be documented — what was prompted, what AI produced, and what I decided to keep, change, or reject. That's not overhead; it's the actual practice of the course.

Quarter Question Connection

N/A — this session was setup only. The quarter question — "What happens when I use AI to turn everyday devices into tools that test, teach, and track human physical and cognitive function?" — was the framing I was given, but I hadn't yet started building toward it.

What's Next

Develop prototypes and ideation of concepts. Start exploring what the quarter question actually looks like when built — what kind of device inputs, what kind of assessments, what kind of feedback loops.
